Garage Conversion to Multi-use Studio

We started working with PDX Additions as we began thinking about creating more space in our small home. Amanda helped us reimagine several areas of our house and brought many creative ideas to the process. We eventually landed on converting our garage into livable space.

It is now part music studio and part what I call “the snug” (a meditation/quiet space with a built in daybed!). Using a space every day that once held boxes and storage (not to mention the rat problem) has genuinely enhanced our daily lives. I walk into the garden every morning to come out to my snug and drink my tea.

What I appreciated most about working with PDX Additions was Amanda’s ability to really listen to how we lived and help us see possibilities in our home that felt authentic to us. We initially had our sights set on a larger addition and had not even considered a garage conversion. In the end, it was a more budget-friendly option and a much better use of our existing footprint.

Amanda also helped us envision our patio space, which truly feels like an extension of our home. We use it every day the weather allows.

Townhouse Courtyard & Deck

The deck design fulfilled all requirements beautifully. Before the deck was installed, it was necessary to negotiate uneven steps with no railings to get from the garage to the house. The design makes the garage-to-house transition very accessible, allowing people with mobility issues to enter my home easily. Double the House with Bedrooms Addition

We had such a great experience working with Amanda on our addition and remodel project. From the beginning, she really took the time to understand how we live in and use our home, and she helped us thoughtfully explore several different possibilities for the space. We looked at multiple configurations for an addition, kitchen remodel ideas, and ways to rework our front rooms before landing on a final design that felt right for our family.

Tudor Cottage Kitchen

We sought out PDX Additions (Amanda Erickson) to help with a kitchen redesign/remodel. Our kitchen was configured in the original layout – circa 1939 – and the space was quite cramped. Amanda steered us through the engineering and contracting phases and even connected us with an interior designer. The outcome has been amazing – the space now supports more than one family member being in the kitchen at once and flows well. Having a kitchen with a workable flow has been so helpful and literally improved our quality of life.

Hawthorne Basement Conversion & Baths

When we bought our house in 2019, we knew there were a few things we needed to do to make it work for our family of five–mainly add a second bathroom. Amanda helped us consider options for the upper level with a dormer, the main level configuration of all the bedrooms and the main bath, and then honed in on the basement as a way to get another full bath, a finished living area, and a great work-from-home office. Her practical knowledge and clear direction helped us bring our ideas to life. We love our finished basement so much that when it came time to update our main floor bathroom, we knew that she’d be the perfect one to plan it as well. We’re happy with everything she’s touched and will absolutely work with her again when it’s time for our next project.

Woodstock Bungalow Addition and Kitchen

We came to PDX Additions with a lot of big ideas but no clear direction. We explored everything from basement and garage ADUs to various home layouts before finally settling on a 450 sq ft living room and office addition with a kitchen remodel. Amanda was incredibly patient with us throughout the entire brainstorming phase. She listened to all of our many ideas and was always open and honest about the real-world feasibility of each option. Large remodels can be stressful, but Amanda’s calm, professional approach and timely communication made things feel easy. Her skill and design expertise completely transformed our home. Ashcreek Living Addition, Offices and Kitchen Remodel

Throughout the process, Amanda was communicative, transparent about costs, and consistently reliable. She also brought an outstanding network of professionals. After a competitive bidding process, we chose to work with her recommended contractor and landscape architect, and we’re so glad we did. Sarah, who collaborated with Amanda, was also fantastic and incredibly helpful on the interior design side.

Even during construction, Amanda remained engaged. She was available for questions, providing clarification, and stopping by to ensure everything was progressing as intended.
